The clients, corporate art brokers and partners, both in business and life, needed a relaxing sanctuary where they could escape the stress of a hectic profession and immerse themselves in a casual beachside lifestyle.

The challenge was to create an elegant and timeless home, robust enough to withstand the rigours of the harsh seaside environment, exude a bold contemporary confidence yet maintain a cosy, comfortable and homely feel.

The clients believed that their home should read as a work of art from the outside and act as canvas for artwork on the inside. A strong sense of entry was paramount, as were generosity of space and the capturing of views. The home must be able to open up in a downpour but lock down during a cyclone. Open up and engage with the adjacent parklands and passers-by but also adapt to provide privacy when required.
